SynapSense raises $7 million for data center monitoring

Folsom’s SynapSense has received a $7 million investment from Robert Bosch Venture Capital.

SynapSense makes wireless systems that monitor environmental factors in data centers. Companies using the startup’s sensors and reporting technology can watch in real time and quantify improvements they make to a data center’s energy efficiency. SynapSense says their system can help cut energy costs by up to 20%. Because the systems are entirely wireless, installation does not require wiring or configuration changes to a data center’s design and infrastructure.

The company has previously raised $13 million from Emerald Technology Ventures, Sequoia Capital, American River Ventures, Nth Power and DFJ Frontier.
